Management

Management is where risk assessment processes tend to weaken. For example, if you look at a risk assessment performed by an oil and gas operator it may include contractors, suppliers, offshore workers and office personnel. Each group will be working out of different offices, perhaps in various locations around the country and even different parts of the world. Management of responsibilities for the work packages, resulting from the mitigating elements identified in the risk assessment, is therefore very difficult i.e. how do you ensure that the work necessary to implement a risk-reducing action is being executed?

With use of the Internet and a secure server, the results of a risk assessment can be uploaded to an Internet site. Each user can then be given security privileges allowing them access to all of the information or just parts of the risk assessment relevant to them. For example, a project manager may only want to see an overview of the project, including significant dates, costs, work complete etc, whereas a resource may only be interested in the work they have to do. The users can interact with the site, sending updates on progress, making additions or amendments to the risk assessment and even requesting status reports from other users. In this way the risk assessment remains live and can be updated from any location. risk-elimin8 provides the means to do this.
